What to Fish Depending on the Season
As a general guideline for the waters around Mallorca, summer and early fall are the seasons for deep-sea trolling and dolphinfish, while winter is the season for squid and snapper. Bluefin tuna depends on the authorized fishing dates each year. The captain will suggest the best fishing method based on the date, weather, and what you want to catch.
Tips for Your Fishing Trip
- Book in advance during the summer and if you’re looking for a specific type of fishing.
- Bring sunscreen, a hat, and warm clothing for the return trip on long outings.
- Take motion sickness medication before boarding if you’re prone to it.
- Ask about minimum sizes and quotas: you can only keep what’s allowed by regulation.
Other Trips
In addition to fishing, Alejandra Charter offers boat rentals with a captain for private excursions along the north coast and shared excursions.
Fishing in Northern Mallorca
Alcúdia Bay and the coastline stretching toward Cape Formentor and Cape des Pinar combine shallow waters ideal for bottom fishing with quick access to deeper waters for trolling and deep-sea fishing. Setting out from Port d’Alcúdia allows you to reach the fishing grounds quickly and take advantage of the early morning hours, which are usually the best for fishing and when the sea is calmest.
