Why Store Your Boat Under Cover

The company itself sums it up: keeping the boat away from the marine environment prevents accelerated deterioration of the electrical system, rubber components, fiberglass, stainless steel, and wood. Out of the water and under cover:

• The hull dries out, reducing the risk of osmosis.
• No dirt builds up on the underwater hull, so the antifouling lasts longer.
• The sun and rain don’t damage tarps, upholstery, or varnishes.
• Batteries and engines are better preserved without salt moisture.
• You save on mooring fees during the months you’re not sailing.

How Seasonal Storage Works

1. At the end of summer, the company picks up the boat at the marina with its trailer.
2. It transports the boat to the Consell warehouse, where it is stored and monitored.
3. In the spring, it returns the boat to the marina, ready to be launched.

For boats up to 9 meters (rowboats, inflatables, small motorboats, and light sailboats), this is a very convenient alternative to paying for a slip all year round.

How to Prepare Your Boat Before Storage

• Change the engine oil and filters and flush the cooling system with fresh water.
• Empty or treat the fresh water tank to prevent unpleasant odors.
• Disconnect the batteries or keep them connected to a trickle charger.
• Remove cushions and textiles or make sure they are completely dry.
• Clean the hull before storing it: dried-on dirt is harder to remove in the spring.
