Nautical services in Huelva

Boating in Huelva revolves around its estuaries. The Real Club Marítimo de Huelva sits on the Odiel, and the Punta Umbría estuary has two clubs with hundreds of berths, a boatyard and schools, plus boat trips. El Rompido, on the river Piedras, has a sailing school and boat hire.

At the mouth of the Guadiana, on the border with Portugal, Isla Canela and Ayamonte have a marina with a boatyard, sailing, windsurf and kitesurf schools and charter companies with yachts and catamarans.

Unlike the Mediterranean, there are tides here: getting in and out of the estuaries and over the river bars depends on the state of the tide, so plan around the tide tables and ask the marina about depth at low water.

Portugal's Algarve is right next door from Ayamonte and Isla Canela, and the Cádiz coast lies across the Guadalquivir. For learning, the calm estuaries and steady summer thermal winds make Huelva a good place for dinghy sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
