Elvstrøm Sails Palma is an official certified Elvstrøm sailmaker in Mallorca, located in the Son Bugadelles industrial park (Calvià), near the marinas in the southwest of the island. It offers a full range of services: design and fabrication of new sails, repairs, maintenance, cleaning, and winter storage. It serves cruising yachts, racing yachts, ocean-going yachts, and superyachts. It is a subsidiary of Elvstrøm Sails, headquartered in Denmark, founded in 1954 by legendary sailor Paul Elvstrøm and one of the world’s largest sailmakers.

The Team

• Jesper Bank, sales director: two-time Olympic gold medalist and one bronze medalist, and two-time skipper in the America’s Cup (Victory Challenge).
• Tim Nielsen, sales: more than 20 years of sailmaking experience and 4 years as head sailmaker on two America’s Cup projects.
• Antonio Domínguez, workshop and sailmaker manager.
• Dorena Recoschewitz, sailor trained in cruising and racing design; she won Palma Vela 2025 aboard a Wally Nano.

Behind the scenes is the Elvstrøm design team in Denmark. All sails are designed in-house, and Elvstrøm is the original sail supplier for many European boat brands.

Code Zero

A standout is the Code Zero, the sail that bridges the gap between upwind and downwind sails. It is furled onto an anti-twist cable, or there is a cable-free version with a high-density fiber battens. Versions are available in ripstop polyester with scrim and film, Epex membrane, or Technora and carbon fibers, with Solar Tex UV protection.

Tips for Caring for Your Sails

• Loosen the halyard and the clew when you’re not sailing, so the sail doesn’t lose its shape.
• Wash them with fresh water from time to time and dry them before storing them to prevent mold.
• Check the seams, luff, and clew at the end of the season; fixing them early is much cheaper.
• Store them off the boat during the winter if you’re not sailing: the sun and humidity will wear them out.
• Protect rolled-up sails with a good UV-protective strap.
• Get a quote in the fall so your new sails will be ready by spring.
