Charter Natura - Alquiler de veleros y yates en Baiona
Galicia's largest charter fleet: sailboats, yachts, catamarans, and motorboats departing from Baiona to explore the Rías Baixas and northern Portugal
About us
Charter Natura is the boat charter company with the largest rental fleet in Galicia, based in the Port of Baiona (Pontevedra). It has more than a dozen vessels—sailboats, motor yachts, catamarans, and motorboats—that cater to everything from romantic sailing getaways to corporate events on catamarans, with cruises through the Rías Baixas, the north coast of Portugal, and the Atlantic Islands (Cíes, Ons, Sálvora).
The Fleet
The diversity of the fleet is Charter Natura’s main distinguishing feature. While most companies in the area operate with 2–3 boats, here customers can choose from more than 12 vessels:
Sailboats:
- Jeanneau Sun Odyssey (various models, 36–49 feet): comfortable and seaworthy cruising sailboats, ideal for multi-day trips through the rías or out to the islands.
- Elan Impression: Slovenian sailboats offering excellent value for their size, very stable and easy to handle.
- Bavaria Cruiser: German classics with spacious interiors, perfect for families.
Motor yachts:
- Rodman 1040/1250: yachts from the Galician shipyard, sturdy and reliable, with a cabin and bathroom. Ideal for day trips or weekend getaways.
- Princess V48/V58: High-performance British yachts for a premium experience. Luxury cabins, flybridge, and sporty performance.
- Astondoa 40: A Spanish yacht with a Mediterranean design, perfect for stylish coastal cruises.
Catamarans:
- Lagoon 380/400: sailing catamarans with ample living space, exceptional stability, and capacity for groups. Ideal for families with children or those prone to seasickness.
Motorboats and RIBs:
- Speedboats for transfers to islands, sport fishing, or short trips along the estuary.
Charter Options
- With a skipper: the most popular option. A professional skipper with local knowledge navigates the boat while the client relaxes. Includes route planning, anchorage guidance, and recommendations.
- Without a skipper (bareboat): for clients with a valid boating license (PER, Yacht Skipper, or Yacht Captain, depending on the vessel). Charter Natura verifies the certification and conducts a technical briefing before departure.
- With full crew: for large yachts or events, with a skipper, deckhand, and optionally a chef/hostess on board.
Destinations and Routes
Baiona’s geographical location provides easy access to the best destinations in the Rías Baixas:
- Cíes Islands: a 1-hour sail from Baiona. Anchor at Rodas Beach or San Martiño. Charter Natura handles the National Park permits.
- Ons Islands: a bit further north, with pristine coves and sheltered anchorages. Perfect for overnight stays at anchor.
- Sálvora Island: the wildest in the Atlantic archipelago, with seal colonies and unspoiled landscapes.
- Vigo Estuary: a tour through Cangas, Moaña, the oyster rafts, and the inland coast to the Strait of Rande.
- Pontevedra Estuary: Sanxenxo, Portonovo, Tambo Island, and Areas Beach.
- Northern Portugal: crossings to Viana do Castelo, Póvoa de Varzim, or even Porto. An increasingly popular route.
- Costa de la Muerte: for experienced sailors, crossings to Finisterre and Muxía.
Events and Experiences
- Private Regattas: organization of regattas between two or more sailboats for corporate groups or groups of friends.
- Corporate Events: nautical team building, product presentations, and dinners on board.
- Weddings and celebrations: ceremonies or cocktail parties aboard a catamaran or yacht, with catering and personalized decor.
- Multi-day cruises: 3–7-day itineraries through the Rías Baixas or to Portugal, with overnight stays on board or in ports.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I rent a boat without a license? Yes, with the skipper-included option. A valid boating license is required for bareboat rentals.
Do you operate in the winter? Yes, although with a reduced fleet and subject to weather conditions. The Rías Baixas have a mild climate that allows for sailing most of the year.
Where does the boat depart from? The main base is the Port of Baiona, but they can arrange departures from other ports (Vigo, Cangas, Sanxenxo) upon request.
