About us
Buceo La Galera is a PADI dive center located in Puerto de Moraira (Alicante), right on the Costa Blanca. From its prime location between Benidorm and Jávea, it offers access to more than 30 dive sites along one of the most biodiverse coastlines in the western Mediterranean. The center offers training courses for all levels, introductory dives, and guided trips for certified divers.
Dive Sites
The coastline between Benidorm and Jávea features a variety of seabed topography that makes this area an exceptional diving destination:
- Peñón de Ifach (Calpe): dives at the base of the cliff, featuring vertical walls, caves, and a rich array of marine life, including groupers, moray eels, octopuses, and nudibranchs.
- Cabo de la Nao (Jávea): clear waters with Posidonia seagrass beds, caves, and rock formations colonized by gorgonians and sponges.
- Moraira: varied seabeds featuring rock, sand, and Posidonia meadows. Good visibility most of the year and an abundance of macro life (seahorses, cuttlefish, nudibranchs).
- Benidorm: Benidorm Island offers dives featuring walls, tunnels, and abundant schools of fish.
- Wrecks: several wrecks accessible at different depths that add variety to the diving options.
PADI Courses
As a PADI center, Buceo La Galera offers training at all levels:
- Discover Scuba Diving: An introductory experience for those who have never dived before. It includes a brief surface briefing, confined-water practice, and a guided open-water dive.
- PADI Open Water Diver: A full certification that qualifies you to dive to depths of up to 18 meters anywhere in the world. It includes theory, confined-water practice, and open-water dives.
- Advanced Open Water Diver: an advanced course featuring specialty dives (deep, navigation, night, perfect buoyancy, and underwater naturalist).
- Rescue Diver: training in safety and underwater emergency management.
- Specialties: night diving, deep diving, underwater photography, drift diving, and more.
Guided Dives
For certified divers, Buceo La Galera organizes regular trips to the best dive sites along the coast:
- Boat trips departing from the Port of Moraira, with short journeys (10–20 minutes) to the dive sites.
- Small groups to ensure a safe and personalized experience.
- All rental equipment available (wetsuit, regulator, BCD, tank, dive computer).
- Dive guide included with every dive.
Snorkeling
For those who prefer to stay on the surface, the center organizes guided snorkeling trips to spots with good visibility and marine life accessible from the surface. Equipment included (mask, snorkel, fins).

Location
The center is located in Puerto de Moraira, a quiet, tourist-friendly town with restaurants, parking, and easy access by car. Moraira is 20 minutes from Calpe, 30 minutes from Jávea, and 45 minutes from Benidorm.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you dive year-round in Moraira? Yes, conditions allow for diving all 12 months of the year. The water temperature ranges from 13–14 °C in winter to 25–27 °C in summer. In winter, 7 mm wetsuits are used.
What is the minimum age for a first-time dive? First-time dives are available for ages 10 and up (the PADI Bubblemaker program is available for younger children, ages 8 and up, in a pool).
What is included in the price of a dive? Tank, weights, guide, insurance, and boat transportation. Personal equipment (wetsuit, regulator, BCD) is rented separately if you do not have your own.
