Calypso Yacht Carpentry - Teca, carpintería y restauración en Palma

Calypso Yacht Carpentry is a marine carpentry workshop located in the Son Castelló industrial park in Palma (Carrer Gremi de Ferrers, 30, Unit 14). Its team of carefully selected carpenters specializes in decks, interiors, and the restoration of wooden boats, and its philosophy is to combine traditional woodworking with modern composite materials to create beautiful and functional interiors.

Services

• Teak Decks: Teak adds style to any boat when the work is done right; Calypso installs and refits complete decks.
• Caulking: The deck suffers from constant wetting and drying, as well as from crew traffic; caulking involves removing the old sealant from the joints and replacing it.
• Yacht joinery: interiors that combine traditional wood and composite materials.
• Restoration of wooden boats: bringing a classic boat back to life—a project that, according to the workshop itself, can be more rewarding than building a new one.
• Solid surfaces: countertops and components made of Corian, Aconite, and Krion, in various thicknesses and colors.
• Interior refit, including repainting surfaces.

Solid Surfaces on Board

Solid surfaces are the standard choice for kitchen countertops, bathrooms, and vanities on modern yachts:

Advantage	Why it matters on board
No visible seams	Doesn’t trap dirt or moisture
Repairable	Scratches can be sanded and polished
Thermoformable	Allows for curved pieces that conform to the boat’s shape
Variety of colors	Matches any interior

When to Caulk

The caulking on a teak deck ages faster than the wood itself. Signs that it’s time to caulk:

• Joints that have come loose or lift up when stepped on.
• Cracks in the caulking or areas that are sinking.
• Moisture stains on the ceilings of below-deck cabins.
• Planks that move when walked on.

Caulking in a timely manner protects the underlying structure and extends the life of the teak by many years before the entire deck needs to be replaced.

Restoring or Refurbishing the Interior

An interior refit can range from varnishing and repainting surfaces to completely rebuilding furniture. Some general tips:

• Decide what to keep: on classic boats, the original wood is usually more valuable than a new piece.
• Consider the weight: composite materials can help reduce weight in large pieces of furniture.
• Coordinate trades: carpentry, upholstery, electrical work, and lighting all share the same space, so it’s best to plan them together.
• Schedule in the fall or winter: this is when the boat isn’t sailing and workshops have more availability.

Who We Serve

For owners of sailboats and motor yachts who want to maintain or renovate their decks, for those seeking a custom interior renovation, and for owners of wooden boats who want to restore them with care.

Teak and Solid Surfaces in a Single Project

In many refits, the deck, galley, and bathrooms are renovated at the same time. Having the teak and solid surfaces done by the same workshop simplifies the coordination of measurements, timelines, and finishes.
