Tips for mooring in Ibiza

  • Book early: In July and August, the port of Ibiza is fully booked.
  • Check the mooring dimensions—not just the length: the beam matters too.
  • Bring enough lines and fenders: swells can enter the port of Ibiza with certain wind conditions.
  • Hire a diver if you notice anything unusual with the propeller or hull; the marina offers this service.
  • Ask about long-term stays if you want to leave the boat for the entire season.

Sailing Base

From Botafoc, you can quickly reach Formentera, Ses Salines, s’Espalmador, or the coves on the east coast of Ibiza. It’s a convenient base for those who want to alternate days of sailing with nights in the city, and for crews who need to have supplies and services close at hand.

Getting to the Port of Ibiza

Botafoc is located within the Port of Ibiza, on the northern shore of the bay. Upon entering, there is traffic from ferries and passenger boats, so it’s best to navigate carefully and contact the marina via VHF to confirm your berth. The 24-hour crew assists with maneuvering, which is much appreciated on summer nights when the harbor is full.

Living Aboard at the Marina

Having water and electricity with individual meters at each berth allows you to spend days on board in comfort: air conditioning, a refrigerator, and chargers all work without relying on the generator. With restrooms, changing rooms, and restaurants right in the marina, Botafoc is a convenient option for those spending the season in Ibiza living on their boat.
