Where to berth in Ibiza: the island's marinas

Most of Ibiza's berths are in the town harbour, which holds several marinas a few minutes apart. Marina Ibiza, on Passeig de Joan Carles I, takes boats from 8 to 95 metres and is the usual choice for large yachts. Across the bay on the north side, Botafoc has around 430 berths from 6 to 30 metres, most of them between 8 and 12. Ibiza Magna and the Club Náutico Ibiza sit by the old town.

Outside town, Marina Santa Eulalia is the marina with the most berths on the island: 763 places for boats from 6 to 22 metres, with dry stack storage for boats up to 8 metres and its own boatyard. On the west coast, the port of Sant Antoni de Portmany has the Club Nàutic Sant Antoni, with a boatyard, and is the natural base for Cala Bassa, Cala Comte and the western sunsets.

If your plan is Formentera, the port of La Savina has its own marinas and a boatyard, so there is no need to return to Ibiza every night or for every haul-out.

How to get a berth in Ibiza in high season

In July and August the port of Ibiza fills up, and transit berths for a few nights are booked weeks or months ahead. Have the details any marina will ask for ready: real length and beam, draft, registration, valid insurance and exact dates. Beam matters as much as length, because it decides which berth you fit in.

To stay all summer or all year, ask about seasonal or annual contracts, which cost far less per day than transit berths. Permanent berths in Ibiza are scarce and often have waiting lists, so ask several marinas at once. For small boats, the dry stack at Santa Eulària is an alternative: the boat sleeps ashore and is launched when you go out.

If you prefer to anchor, remember that anchoring on posidonia seagrass is banned in the Balearics and patrolled in summer. In areas such as ses Salines and northern Formentera there are regulated buoy fields that are booked in advance in the season.

Types of berth

You can rent a transit berth by the night, month or season, or an annual berth. Some marinas also sell long-term berth rights until the end of the concession.

Besides the berth itself, compare the services: water and power, marineros to help you moor, security, toilets and showers, fuel dock, boatyard and workshops in the marina.

How to get a berth

In summer demand in Ibiza is high, so book transit berths in advance, especially for larger boats. Off-season it is easier and cheaper.

For an annual berth, ask about waiting lists, the deposit and what the fee includes. Be wary of berth transfers without concession paperwork.
