Yacht UP is a marine mechanical workshop located on Camino de Son Reus in Palma, specializing in the “heart” of boats: marine engines, transmissions, control systems, and maneuvering propellers. It was founded more than 15 years ago with a clear vision: to offer highly skilled work in Mallorca at a reasonable price, especially for difficult diagnostics and complex repairs.

Main Services

• MAN and CAT marine engines: maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and complete overhauls. We use only original parts and, before installing the engine on the boat, we also inspect its accessories: water filters, Vulkan couplings, and the control system settings.
• Transmissions and reduction gears: Specialized tools and expertise with ZF, Twin Disc, Reintjes, and L’S—ranging from reduction gears from the 1960s with electromagnetic clutches to two-speed gearboxes for large vessels.
• ZF Control Systems: installation and repair of Microcommander, SmartCommand, JMS, SPP, and POD-Drive, and replacement of older mechanical, hydraulic, or electronic controls from other brands.
• Sleipner Side-Power maneuvering thrusters: calculation, installation, and repair of bow and stern thrusters—hydraulic or electric, retractable or tunnel-mounted—with Speed Control and S-Link. Also stabilizers and electrohydraulic steering.
• Couplings and shafts: works with Centa and Vulkan, and with the Yacht Controller wireless remote control.
• Engine room refits: large-scale projects, such as a complete refit of a 37-meter superyacht sailboat to improve its sailing performance.

Diagnostics and Technical Reports

For Yacht UP, the best solution starts with an accurate diagnosis. The company has the equipment and technology to perform the necessary tests and pinpoint the fault, and then conducts sea trials to verify that the entire propulsion system is functioning properly as a whole. It also performs diagnostics and prepares technical reports for class-certified vessels (Lloyd’s, ABS, BV, GL, and other classification societies).

Onboard Repairs Across All the Islands

Whenever possible and in the client’s best interest, repairs are performed onboard. We have fully equipped vehicles and travel to any location on the islands so that the boat spends as little time as possible out of service. For larger jobs, we have a spacious, clean, and well-equipped workshop in Palma.

What Is a ZF Electronic Control System

Electronic controls replace the old mechanical cables between the bridge control lever and the engine or transmission. Systems such as ZF’s Microcommander or SmartCommand offer:

• Smoother and more precise maneuvers, especially in port.
• Multiple control stations (bridge, flybridge, side-thrusters) that are synchronized.
• Assist functions, such as automatic engine synchronization or fishing speed.
• Less maintenance than cables, which harden and rust.

Maneuvering Propellers and Stabilizers

Bow and stern thrusters make docking in windy conditions or in tight spaces much easier. Side-Power (Sleipner) manufactures electric and hydraulic models, as well as tunnel-mounted and retractable versions, with proportional speed control (Speed Control). Yacht UP calculates which thruster each boat needs based on its length, displacement, and wind-exposed surface area, and installs and repairs it. It also works on stabilizers, which reduce rolling while sailing and at anchor.
