Direct rentals of sailboats, Menorcan boats, and motorboats—with or without a skipper—at the port of Maó
About us
Menorca Nautic is a boat rental company in Menorca that has been in business since 1990. It rents its own fleet directly, with no middlemen, from its office and berths at Moll de Llevant 152 in the Port of Maó. It offers sailboats, Menorcan boats (llaüts), and motorboats, with or without a skipper, and provides round-the-clock assistance throughout the rental period. It can also help you if you’d like to rent a boat in Mallorca.
Three Types of Boats
| Type | For |
|---|---|
| Sailboats | For sailing for a week or several days, sleeping on board, and exploring the island in stages |
| Menorcan boats (llaüts) | Menorca’s traditional boat: stable, comfortable, and perfect for hopping from cove to cove |
| Motorboats | For getting around quickly and seeing more coves in a single day |
All can be rented with or without a skipper, depending on your certification and experience.

What Our Customers Say
Many customers return. Some families set sail for the first time and discover “another side of Menorca,” while experienced sailors praise the recommended route, the boat’s comfort, and the skipper’s attentive service during their week aboard.
Menorca from the Sea
A week on a sailboat or a llaüt allows you to sail around Menorca in stages, anchoring each night in a different cove or in ports like Ciutadella or Fornells. The southern coast features coves with turquoise waters and white sand; the northern coast is wilder, with reddish sand and the Nord de Menorca Marine Reserve. Setting out from Maó allows you to choose the coast most sheltered from the wind each day.
Practical Guide: Renting a Boat for a Week
- Check your certification: The PER or PNB licenses limit boat length and distance from the coast.
- Plan your route based on the wind, without a rigid schedule.
- Do your shopping before setting sail: some coves have no amenities.
- Reserve a berth in port for a few nights to refill water and recharge batteries.
- Anchor in sand, never on posidonia: it’s protected in the Balearic Islands.
- Leave the boat clean and with the fuel tank as you found it.
One-Day or Multi-Day Rentals
You can rent a motorboat or a llaüt for one day, or a sailboat for weekends and weeks. The team will recommend the boat that best suits your group, your experience level, and your plans.

What Certification You Need
| Certification | What it allows (summary) |
|---|---|
| Boating License | Boats up to 6 m, during the day and near the coast |
| PNB | Boats up to 8 m and within 5 miles of the coast |
| PER | Boats up to 15 m (24 m with practical training) and within 12 miles |
| Yacht Skipper | Boats up to 24 m and within 150 miles |
If you don’t have a license or prefer to relax, you can rent any boat with a skipper. The team at Menorca Nautic will tell you which boats you can operate with your license.
The Llaüt, Menorca’s Traditional Boat
The Menorcan llaüt is the island’s traditional boat: made of wood or fiberglass, with a stable hull and plenty of deck space. It’s perfect for sailing from cove to cove at a leisurely pace, complete with an awning and a swimming area. Renting a llaüt is a truly authentic way to explore the coast.
