Simply Diving is a PADI 5-Star IDC (Instructor Development Center) based at the Marbella Marina, in the heart of the Costa del Sol. Founded in 1999 by Gordon and Shona Stewart, it is a family-run center that has been training divers and organizing dives in the waters of southern Spain for over 25 years.

PADI Courses

As an IDC, Simply Diving can offer all levels of PADI training, from an introduction to diving to instructor training:

• Discover Scuba Diving: an introductory experience for first-time divers, featuring basic training and a guided dive in shallow water.
• Open Water Diver: a full certification that allows you to dive to depths of up to 18 meters anywhere in the world. It includes theory, confined-water training, and open-water dives.
• Advanced Open Water: advanced training with specialties such as deep diving, navigation, night diving, and perfect buoyancy.

Dives

Simply Diving organizes dives from its boat, moored at the Marbella Marina. The dive sites cover the coast of Marbella and the surrounding area, with varied seabeds that include:

• Rocky reefs teeming with marine life: groupers, moray eels, octopuses, nudibranchs, and schools of white seabream and salps.
• Posidonia seagrass beds: a protected ecosystem that is home to seahorses, cuttlefish, and juveniles of many species.
• The Submerged Virgin of Carmen: one of Marbella’s most iconic sites, an underwater statue surrounded by marine flora.

Snorkeling

For those who prefer to stay on the surface, the center organizes guided snorkeling trips with all equipment included. It’s a perfect activity for families and for companions of divers who want to enjoy the sea without needing a certification.

The center is located at Stall 37 in the Marbella Marina, just a few meters from the beach, with the boat moored right next door. It’s easily accessible, and there’s parking nearby. In what languages are the courses taught? Mainly in English and Spanish, although they can also arrange training in other languages with guest instructors.

When is the best time to dive in Marbella? You can dive year-round. The months from June through October offer warmer waters (22–27 °C) and better visibility. In the winter, there are fewer divers and you’ll have unique encounters with marine life.
