Aventura IB - Centro de buceo en Colònia de Sant Jordi y Cabrera

Aventura IB is a PADI dive center operating in Palma and Colònia de Sant Jordi, in southern Mallorca. From Colònia de Sant Jordi, you have access to the most exclusive diving area in the Balearic Islands: the Cabrera Archipelago Maritime-Terrestrial National Park. It offers diving trips, introductory dives, PADI courses, snorkeling, and boat excursions, with dives for all skill levels.

Where to Dive

It has four marine reserves and one national park within easy reach:

• Cabrera National Park: protected since 1991. Thanks to its isolation, it has remained virtually intact to this day, and its coastline is among the best-preserved on the Spanish coast.
• Illes Malgrats Marine Reserve.
• El Toro Island Marine Reserve.
• Palma Bay Marine Reserve.
• Migjorn de Mallorca Marine Reserve.

There are dives along walls, in the open sea, in caverns, and in small caves. Some of the best-known sites:

• Cabrera, with seabeds teeming with life.
• Sunken ships at the Dique, in the Palma area.
• Cave of the ophiuroids and shrimp.
• Isla del Sec.

Introductory Dives

For those who have never dived before. Children ages 8 and 9 can take an introductory dive at a depth of 2 meters.

PADI Beginner Courses

• PADI Open Water Diver: the world’s most popular beginner course. It certifies you to dive with a buddy up to 18 meters and is internationally recognized. It’s the recommended course if you want to continue advancing.
• PADI Scuba Diver: shorter (about 60% of the Open Water course). Certifies you to dive to 12 meters, always accompanied by a professional. You can later upgrade to Open Water.

The minimum age for the courses is 10 years, and minors need parental consent. The theory is completed online at your own pace (5 chapters with quizzes and videos; 3 for the Scuba Diver course), and it’s best to start it at least 7 days before the practical sessions.

Tips for Diving in Cabrera

• Diving in the National Park requires authorization, and spots are limited. Authorized dive centers handle the permit, so book in advance.
• If you’re certified, bring your certification card and logbook.
• Do not fly within 24 hours of diving.

The Cabrera National Park Underwater

The Cabrera archipelago, about 10 miles south of Colònia de Sant Jordi, is one of the best-preserved marine areas in the western Mediterranean. Underwater, you’ll find:

• Vast Posidonia meadows.
• Walls and caves covered in gorgonians, sponges, and corals.
• Groupers, snappers, sea bass, barracudas, and schools of fish that are hard to spot in other areas.

Dives in the park are regulated and limited, so booking through an authorized dive center is the only way to dive there.

Shipwrecks at the Breakwater and Isla del Sec

In the Palma area, the shipwrecks next to the harbor’s breakwater are a very popular dive site, with structures colonized by marine life. Isla del Sec, in the Bay of Palma, offers varied rocky seabeds and good visibility.
