Why Set Sail from Palma
From downtown Palma, you’re just a few hours away from the best coves in the southwest (Portals Vells, El Toro, Dragonera) and the south (Cabrera, national park). In a week, you’ll have time to sail around half the island or cross over to Ibiza if the weather cooperates. Plus, Palma’s airport is just 15 minutes away, so boarding is very convenient.
Example of a one-week itinerary
- Palma → Portals Vells: first peaceful anchorage.
- → Andratx: dinner at the harbor.
- → Dragonera and Sant Elm: natural park.
- → Sóller (weather permitting): the Tramuntana Mountains from the sea.
- → back to the south with a stop at Cala Portals or El Toro.
- → Cabrera (you must request permission to anchor in the national park).
- → Palma.
This is a suggested itinerary; it is adjusted daily based on wind conditions.
What’s typically included in a weekly charter
- Check-in with a briefing on the boat and the sailing area.
- Mandatory safety equipment and charts of the area.
- Route recommendations based on the week’s forecast.
Extras (skipper, final cleaning, bedding, dinghy, fuel) are listed in each listing; ask when booking.
What to choose?
- Couple or two couples: Jeanneau SO 380.
- Family or group of 8: Oceanis 41 or Jeanneau SO 415.
- Large group seeking comfort: Lagoon 43 or 46 catamaran.
- No experience: any boat with a skipper, or a Day Charter.
